Were you one of the many townspeople who were not able to attend the Town Meeting when the article was debated and approved? Were you there, voted and then left before the results were announced? Did you stay for the entire meeting and hear the collective gasp when Moderator Ray Mead announced the results of the library vote: “Passed by 2 votes!”
If you said yes to the first question and you are a supporter of the library expansion, Tuesday, Dec. 1 is your opportunity to show your support for this project. You now know how important every vote is and why you must show up to the polls on Dec. 13, they are open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the on Millbury Street.
If you said yes to the second question – thank you for your time and commitment to this project! You know that those two hours you spent listening to the presentation, hearing public debate and waiting in the voting line will all be for naught if you don’t make it to the polls to vote in support of the library expansion on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

If you said yes to the last question – you are a living, breathing example of what democracy looks like! With all due respect to the “Occupy Wall Street” protesters, the most pure form of representative democracy is the Town Meeting. One of my favorite expressions is “the world is run by the people who show up.” You showed up and you need to show up again on Tuesday, Dec. 13 and exercise your right as a citizen in a democracy.
Looking forward to seeing all library expansion supporters on Tuesday, Dec. 13 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the polling stations at the Grafton Elementary School!
