Live from the Municipal Center....

Proposed new system would provide for more live programming of meetings and community events.

The Grafton Cable Television Oversight Committee has proposed spending $386,346 to build a fiber optic network for the town.

This would allow remote live cable access television broadcasts from a number of town locations, including six town/community buildings, two outdoor sites and six school buildings.

Other locations could be added in the future, according to information provided by the Grafton Cable Television Oversight Committee.

Committee members and a representative from Comm-Tract, a Waltham-based company that designs and builds private and municipal fiber optic networks, made a presentation Tuesday to the Board of Selectmen.

The main trunk line of the new fiber optic network will also accommodate state-of-the art digital data transmission, including high-speed Internet service between all town and school buildings, according to the oversight committee.
