Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?

Gaffney: We bought the building a year ago and have established our corporate headquarters in Grafton. We plan on being here for a long time as we are vertically integrated, meaning we will not only offer retail sales, but also medical sales of our own products we will cultivate and manufacture in the back of our building. Our retail store is open, and we are currently building out the cultivation and manufacturing components of our business. Upon completion of our cultivation and manufacturing facility we will open our medical treatment center.
Patch: What attracted you to this area?
Gaffney: Grafton is a great location for our headquarters as it is centrally located. The building we are in is unique and accommodating for our needs and with 6 acres of land, there is a potential for future growth. Combine this with an enthusiastic team in city hall and we were able to create a great partnership that MJ’s Market looks forward to building for years to come.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Gaffney: I can sum it up in 3 words, A Cannabis destination. No, remove the A and replace it with “Your.” Mj’s Market is “Your Cannabis Destination.”
Patch: What would you say is the most satisfying part of the job?
Gaffney: Seeing the MJ’s team interact with customers. I see the passion and belief in the atmosphere we have created at MJ’s Market. I can see the values of the extensive training we have and continue to have for our team. I see the same passion and motivation throughout my entire team, or as we say within the MJ’s Family. The satisfaction is heartwarming knowing we help people achieve their higher purpose.
Patch: What is the biggest challenge you face in your job?
Gaffney: The biggest challenge is trying to navigate through a newly emerging market. Understanding the laws and ensuring we always stay within the guidelines, while ensuring we offer customers a great experience.
Patch: How would you say your business is different from others?
Gaffney: Our biggest differentiator is that we are not just a dispensary, we are a cannabis destination. We have a high level of focus on providing education to our consumers and guests as well as providing an experience around cannabis. Everything from creating a gallery in our dispensary for local artwork, the one-on-one sales process with our cannasseurs and the tours we plan on offering tie into that vision of offering a cannabis experience and not just being a dispensary.
Patch: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Gaffney: The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary. Perseverance is the key to success.
Patch: Any new projects are you excited about?
Gaffney: We are expanding our current space in Grafton by adding a cultivation/manufacturing facility. Once complete we will be offering tours to see how a plant is turned into an edible. We also just received our Provisional License for our 2nd retail location in Tyngsborough.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up?
Gaffney: Yes, we regularly have folks performing on our stage and we also have weekly vendor pop-ups. You can learn more on our website calendar of events to come.
