Neighborhood Fires Still Investigated

The two fires at neighboring homes days apart last week remain under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office.

Each fire is being looked at “distinctly and separately’’ from the other, said Jennifer Mieth, spokesman for the state fire marshal’s office.

A fire destroyed the garage at 6 Airport Road Jan. 2. Three days later, a Jan. 5 blaze struck at Hingham Road.

The two homes are within sight of each other and has prompted fears among some in the neighborhood.

Until a cause of the two blazes is determined, it is premature to determine if the two fires are in any way connected, Mieth said.
