New Principal Has a Familiar Face in Town

Jennifer Mannion meets the School Committee.

New North Street School principal Jennifer Mannion is no stranger to the Grafton schools: She lives in town and has two children in the school system.

She met with the School Committee Monday night, a few weeks after she was named the school’s first principal.

“I’m really thrilled to be working in the town where I live and where my children go to school,’’ she told the School Committee Monday night. “I can’t wait to get us all under one roof and get started.’’

She officially starts July 1.

North Street School will be the new name of the building that now houses . The North Street School will house students in grades 2 through 6.

The middle school will move to the current Grafton High School building this fall, when the new high school building is opened.

Mannion has served as one of two assistant principals at the Florence Sawyer School in Bolton for the past two years. The Florence Sawyer School serves students in the Nashoba School District and houses grades kindergarten through eight.

As assistant principal of the Florence Sawyer School, Mannion developed a reputation as an exceptional, student-centered leader, Cummings said.

She has a strong track record of working collaboratively to create positive and enriching learning environments for all students, staff, and parents, Cummings said.

Prior to becoming an assistant principal, Mannion spent ten years as a sixth grade teacher in the Northborough public schools.
