Peterson Running for Re-election

The Grafton resident, who has served since 1994, is seeking another term.

Assistant House Minority Leader George N. Peterson, Jr. (R-Grafton) has announced his bid for re-election.

Representing the Ninth Worcester District since 1994, Peterson said he remains eager to serve the residents of Grafton, Northbridge and Upton for another legislative session.

“It is with great enthusiasm that I announce my candidacy for re-election,” he said. "It has truly been an honor serving the residents of the Ninth Worcester District over the last 18 years, and I look forward to what we can accomplish in the future. I remain invigorated and determined to lower taxes, increase local aid and bring transparency back to Beacon Hill.”

During the current legislative session, the Grafton resident championed for both Chapter 70 and 90 funding, joined the Republican Legislative Caucus in proposing a jobs package and has secured increased funding for the Welcome Home Bonus given to troops returning from active deployment.

“While this legislative session has been extremely successful, it is only the beginning,” Peterson said. “It is my firm belief that the best social program is a job, and I will continue to advocate for increased employment opportunities in the Commonwealth. I remain committed to coming to Beacon Hill and being the voice of the residents of the Ninth Worcester District in the House of Representatives.”

Representative Peterson is the Assistant Minority Leader and currently serves on the House Committee on Bills in the Third Reading. Peterson and his wife, Diana, reside in Grafton and have four children and seven grandchildren.
