Pets Rock at Pet Rock

Tufts-related organization among hundreds of participants.

Tufts Paws for People, an animal visitation group that provides comfort to elder care residents, disadvantaged youths and schoolchildren while they learn to read, will be among the many organizations participating in the 13th Annual Pet Rock Festival.

The festival will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Quinsigamond Community College, 670 West Boylston St., Worcester. Tickets are $13 for adults and $5 for kids. Rain date is Sept. 18.

Pet Rock is the largest animal expo on the East Coast. A daylong festival of fund raising fun for the entire family, including the family dog, Pet Rock’s primary purpose is to promote responsible pet ownership, bring attention to animal cruelty and educate people on a variety of animal-related issues.

Proceeds benefit New England animal welfare organizations.

Pet Rock Fest boasts live music, vendors, a food court sponsored by the Boston Vegetarian Society, a “kind kids” booth, the Blues Clues mascot, games, prizes, raffles, speakers, rides and more than 200 breed rescues, shelters and animal welfare organizations.
