School Project Seven Figures Under Budget
Substantial completion is expected by June 18.

The new is on track to be substantially completed by June 18, Grafton High School Building Committee chairman Rich McCarthy said last night.
The project is also “seven figures’’ under budget, he said.
If a significant amount of money remains after the project is completed, the funds will revert back to the town, which will decide how to use them.

The original deadline date when the project would be substantially completed had been June 1, but delays related to the windows made that unworkable, McCarthy said.
The June 18 date will be when the keys to the building are turned over to the school district, McCarthy said. Once that happens, school principal Jim Pignataro and other school staff members can begin to settle into the building, he said.

Work will continue on a limited scale through the summer, he said. Work will be done on the fields and roads, he said.
He said the building has reached an impressive state of near completion. “The ‘Wow’ factor when you walk through the building _ it’s amazing,’’ he said.
