Seven Things You Missed at Selectmen's Meeting
Snow and ice money, ground-breaking and reverse 911 are among the topics discussed.

Here are seven things you might have missed from Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting:
1. Selectmen heard a presentation about a potential reverse 911 system from a representative of Code Red, a Florida-based company that provides this service to communities throughout the country.
The service would alert residents to emergencies and other vital situations, such as a boil-water order or trash collection changes.Â

The service costs $9,700 a year. Town Administrator Timothy McInerney said the water district, the school department and E.L. Harvey, the town's trash collection provider, would help with the first-year cost.Â
No decision was made.

2. A ground-breaking for the Mill Villages Park will be held at 9 a.m. April 9.
3. A garage Class II license was transferred from Baker Auto Sales, 281 Upton St., to Route 140 Wholesale Auto Sales.
4. The warrant was opened for the May 9 Town Meeting. The warrant will close March 18.Â
5. The snow and ice budget for the year so far has exceeded the budgeted amount by $168,873, which was lower than some had feared this stormy winter. The snow and ice budget was $150,000.
6. Selectmen accepted the resignations of Todd E. Brodeur from the Affordable Housing and Cathy Jacques of the Commission on Disabilities.
7. Selectmen once again reminded residents that the issue of the proposed new toter system for trash collection and the new collection schedule will be discussed at a public forum during the March 8 selectmen's workshop.
Selectmen are slated to make a final decision March 15. Representatives of E.L. Harvey are scheduled to attend the March 8 meeting to answer questions.
