Sex Offender Addeo To Be Released
His sentence of lifetime parole is reduced and an effort to deem him 'sexually dangerous' fails.

The Grafton Level 3 sex offender who cut off his monitoring bracelet last year and triggered a New England-wide manhunt has been taken off lifetime parole and will be released soon.
Brian Addeo, 33, had his sentence of lifetime parole reduced to a 10-year probation period today, said Timothy J. Connolly, spokesman for District Attorney Joseph D. Early.
The state had previously attempted to have Addeo labeled a sexually dangerous person, but that effort failed, Connolly said. That would have forced Addeo to remain at Bridgewater State Hospital indefinitely.

Judge James Lemire ruled in Worcester Superior Court today that Addeo should not have received lifetime parole in September 2010.
The district attorney’s office agreed with Addeo’s defense attorney that a lifetime sentence was improperly imposed in the case, Connolly said. The state instead recommended that he receive 10 years of probation.

Addeo’s defense argued that he should receive no additional sentence. The judge agreed with the state’s recommendation and placed him on probation through September 2020.
He must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet through the probation period, Connolly said.
During that time, he is ordered to have no contact with his previous victims or anyone under 16. He must also undergo counseling.
Addeo was captured in Augusta, Maine, March 16, several days after allegedly cutting off his GPS monitoring bracelet and tossing it into the back of a pickup truck in the parking lot of Home Depot in Tewksbury.
Wearing the monitoring bracelet was one of the requirements of his parole. He was released on lifetime community parole April 29, 2010 after pleading guilty to a number of charges.
These charges included four counts of statutory rape of a child, three counts of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14 and indecent assault and battery of a person over 14.
Addeo’s last known Grafton address was 120 Milford Road, South Grafton.
