Should Grafton Hire a Finance Director?
New post is mentioned after treasurer-collector job search stalls.

With Town Administrator Timothy McInerney having trouble filling the vacant treasurer/collector job, selectman Brook Padgett suggested the time might be right  for the town to hire a finance director.
He said at tonight's meeting that there had been discussion through the years to add the position of finance director.
The finance director is a “very high level’’ position, McInerney said. That person would control and develop the budget, process payrolls and invoices, and determine specifics of tax-exempt statuses, he said.

The finance director salary would likely be about $85,000 to $95,000 per year.
Padgett said he would like to hear the Personnel Advisory Committee’s recommendations on the issue.

Town Meeting voters would have to approve adding the position. McInerney said he thought it would be too soon to bring the issue to October Town Meeting voters.Â
