Things to Know about Grafton's Shelter

Bring the right items and information.

Grafton’s emergency shelter, located in the gym at the behind the Station, may be open tomorrow.

Here are a few things to know:

If evacuation is required, you will be directed to go to the shelter.  Parking and entrance doors are located to the rear of the building.

Have a number of routes to reach the shelter, in case the route you would usually take is closed.

If you do not have transportation, make arrangements now for a ride.

Keep your car fueled; gas stations may close during the emergency.

Know how to shut off your electricity, water and gas.

Do not call police and fire; those numbers need to stay open for emergency workers. Dial Mass2-1-1- for more information.

Turn off lights and unnecessary appliances and lock windows and doors.

Check if neighbors need assistance.

Inform someone that you are leaving.

Take essential items needed for three days.

Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towels, games and toys for kids.

Bring prescription medicine, medical equipment and a list of important medical records.

Bring checkbook, credit card and cash.

Bring any special dietary food.

Leave pets home or in someone’s care; leave several days of food and water for them. Only service animals are allowed.
