Town Wants Trash Talk About PAYT Bags

The town is considering a change and is looking for feedback.

The town is considering switching to a new type of trash bag and is looking for residents’ feedback.

The town now uses bags with drawstring closures for the Pay As You Throw program. This type of bag was the preference of residents when the program began in 2010.

“As the town enters its third year of the program, it’s important to hear from residents on the performance of the bags,’’ Town Administrator Timothy J. McInerney said in a prepared statement.

The town is  considering a new style of bag to replace the drawstring bags. The bags will have a wave-top specification that can be bunched and tied.

The bags would still be manufactured in two sizes, 15 and 33 gallons.
