Two Schools Will Have New Names
School Committee members have approved the new Millbury and North street schools.

With the school organization changing, so will some of the school names.
School Committee members tonight approved two new school names, Millbury Street Elementary School and North Street Elementary School, for the two new grade 2-6 schools that will be located at the current Grafton Elementary and Grafton Middle schools, respectively.

Two schools for pre-K, kindergarten and grade one students at the current and They will remain known as North and South Grafton elementary schools.
Grades 2-6 in two schools, the current and They will be known as Millbury Street and North Street elementary schools.

Grades 7 and 8 at the current Grafton High School, which will be known as Grafton Middle School.
Grades 9-12 at the new Grafton High School.
These changes will take effect in September 2012.
This changes the current plan, which would put students in grades 2, 3 and 4 in one building and grades 5 and 6 in another.
Superintendent of Schools Jay Cummings reduce the number of transitions that students have to undergo.He pointed out that numerous studies have shown that transitions are stressful to students and present educational and personal challenges for youngsters.
