Carlos Da Silva for Plymouth County Commissioner Fundraiser at the Correnti’s Pool House
Friends,
As you may recall, I ran for re-election to the School Committee as the only incumbent. The other two school committee members who did not run for re-election are Carlos Da Silva and Liza O’Reilly. Liza spent nine years on the committee, a huge feat! Carlos elected not to run for re-election after six years on the committee as he hopes to win a seat for Plymouth County Commissioner.

I became familiar with Carlos when he was running for School Committee in 2016. My kids were running a lemonade stand and he stopped by to chat with them and my husband. He talked about what public education meant to him, the son of a teacher, and recognized the importance as his own children struggled to get the right special education services. He decided to help do something about it and ran for School Committee. My husband was won over by that conversation and decided to support him and host a sign (the first time we ever hosted a sign). Carlos won the election and became the first person of color elected to office in Hingham.
I met Carlos several years later when I was running for School Committee myself. He was running for re-election that year, however it did not stop him from answering any questions and helping me understand the role of the School Committee. He was gracious with his time and experience. I continued to be impressed after I joined the School Committee. It was clear Carlos had a pulse on what people in the community were feeling. His insight into how people were feeling and opinions they had could only be garnered by someone who was speaking with community members regularly.

As a state employee, Carlos is precluded from asking for donations. As I am well aware, every little bit helps when running a campaign. I hope you can join us on the 20th and get to know Carlos a little more.
