Hingham Police Officer John Marquardt is the department's new Safety Officer, covering the elementary schools. The <a href="https://hingham.patch.com/listings/town-of-hingham-police-department">Hingham Police Department</a> announced the selection Thursday morning <a href="https://twitter.com/HinghamPolice" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">on Twitter</a>. The position has not been filled since it was cut in 2009.  Marquardt kicked-off his new assignment by giving Halloween safety tips to elementary students at <a href="https://hingham.patch.com/listings/east-elementary-school-4">East School</a> Thursday morning.
