Hingham Police Department: Detectives Arrest Man Stealing From Elderly Veteran

Hingham, MA- Detectives arrested a Weymouth man following an investigation into the theft of $3,850 from an elderly Veteran.

On February 9, 2022 the Hingham Police were made aware of an ongoing theft where the victim’s checks were being fraudulently cashed. The victim did not authorize the checks.
It is alleged that the suspect had befriended the victim while at a local assisted living facility. Over time, the suspect observed where the victim kept their personal checks and also observed how the victim had a specific way of endorsing the checks.

Over the course of the investigation, Detective Michael Gervasi, was able to develop probable cause and secured an arrest warrant. On Tuesday March 8, 2022 Hingham Detectives served the arrest warrant with the assistance of the Weymouth Police.
Arrested was Gerald Blain, age 45, of 83 Colonels Drive Apt #31, Weymouth, MA. He was charged with Forgery (11 counts), Uttering (11 counts), Larceny Over $1200 by Single Scheme, Larceny Over $250 from +60/Disabled Person, Breaking and Entering in the Daytime for a Felony.
He was arraigned at Hingham District Court on March 8, 2022. The incident remains under investigation.
