The police <a href="https://twitter.com/HinghamPolice" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">announced the news on Twitter</a> Wednesday afternoon.  "Officers found no impaired drivers New Years Eve through New Years morning. One was cited for driving with open container. Safe start to '14," the HPD tweeted, following <a href="https://twitter.com/HinghamPolice" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">another note Tuesday night</a>: "Many traffic stops tonight, so far no impaired drivers and no crashes either. Great way to end 2013. Lets start 2014 same way." Hingham is in its 10th year of a designated driver program that partners with restaurants to encourage patrons to plan ahead for nights of drinking. This year, <a href="https://hingham.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/100-of-hingham-restaurants-join-county-designated-drive-program">100 percent of Hingham restaurants participated</a>.
