South Shore YMCA raises $25,000 for community on Day of Giving
South Shore YMCA members and friends rallied to raise over $25,000 in a single YMCA Day of Giving to support the South Shore community.

On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, South Shore YMCA members, staff, and friends came together to support friends and neighbors through Y programs and services on YMCA Day of Giving. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be returned to the South Shore community.
Throughout the day, South Shore YMCA staff and volunteers met hundreds of members and donors at their Hale Family YMCA branch in Quincy, Emilson YMCA in Hanover, SSYMCA Early Learning Centers and After-School Program sites, SSYMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center, SSYMCA Gymnastics Center, and the SSYMCA Natural Science Center. The SSYMCA Camp Burgess & Hayward community showed their support by fundraising online from members nationally and internationally. Collectively, over $25,000 was donated to the Y, showing the impact that occurs when a community comes together under a common cause.
YMCA Day of Giving kicks off the South Shore YMCA’s Annual Campaign for 2023. Donations received throughout the year help feed and nourish local residents fighting food insecurity through the Y’s food pantry; prevent childhood drownings by underwriting youth swim lesson scholarships; send kids to summer camps; offer free medical wellness and exercise programs to seniors; support inclusive and adaptive programming; empower Y community gardens and farm education programs; support the Y’s early learning centers, where children learn, grow and thrive; and provide financial assistance for Y programs and membership.

About YMCA Day of Giving
YMCA Day of Giving began in the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina in 2015 as a one-day, all-hands-on-deck, hyper-focused campaign effort that engaged staff at all levels, engaged volunteers, and acted as a final push for branches toward their Annual Campaign goals. Today, it has grown into a nationwide event that kicks off Annual Campaigns for Y’s across the country.
