Holliston Police Log: Gun Store Break-In, Neighborly Miscommunication

Wednesday, Jan. 23
6:48 a.m.: Officers responded to an alarm at Holliston Family Dental. The business was secure upon their arrival.
11:07 a.m.: The Highway Department was notified to remove a dead deer from Prentice Street.

2:53 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on Woodland Street and issued a citation to the driver for speeding in a school zone.
Thursday, Jan. 24

12:13 a.m.: An officer responded to an alarm at Holliston Family Dental. The officer spoke with a tenant in the upstairs apartment.
10:08 a.m.: A caller complained of icing on the roadway at Winter Street and Stagecoach Way. The Highway Department was aware of the issue.
12:28 p.m.: A resident of Erin Way reported a larceny to the Holliston Police Department.
6:22 p.m.: A resident reported that a truck may have hit another vehicle’s mirror earlier in the day in the vicinity of Washington Street and Concord Street.
6:45 p.m.: A caller reported a resident pumping water in to the roadway at the intersection of Winter Street and Ashland Street. The caller was advised to notify town hall and the Highway Department.
Friday, Jan. 25
4:31 a.m.: A caller from Concord Street reported that there was a banging in her home and she believed someone may be inside. An officer responded and discovered a neighbor checking toe dogs at the residence because they did not believe the caller was home.
8:19 a.m.: A caller from Nick’s Garage reported an abandoned vehicle. Police are seeking a summons to charge the owner of the vehicle with abandoning a motor vehicle.
3:19 p.m.: An officer spoke to youths who were on the ice at Stoddard Park.
3:50 p.m.: Officers responded to a two-car crash on Washington Street at Oak Street. Police are seeking a summons for one of the drivers involved.
6:16 p.m.: A caller from Dodd Drive reported a ladder was leaning against his house and a window had been smashed. The caller was unsure if the issue had been caused by the wind. An officer responded and reported that the ladder and broken window did not appear suspicious.
10:26 p.m.: A driver crashed in to the one-way sign on Curve Street.
Saturday, Jan. 26
3:53 a.m.: An officer observed ATV marks in the snow on Fiske Street near the high-tension wires.
7:34 a.m.: The owner of Holliston Firearms reported that the business had been broken into and merchandise had been stolen.
1:21 p.m.: Officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Adams Street at Gorwin Drive.
9:04 p.m.: While assisting the Sherborn Police Department in a search for a vehicle, an officer discovered that it had crashed on the town line. Patrick Riley, 22, of 23 Ward Lane was arrested and charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating with a suspended license.
Sunday, Jan. 27
12:23 a.m.: A caller reported residents preparing the ice on Pinecrest Road for skating.
1:42 a.m.: An officer responded to an alarm at Holliston Family Dental.
10:13 a.m.: Officers responded to an abandoned 911 call from Washington Street. One person was transported to the station to make arrangements after a possible verbal dispute.
12:44 p.m.: Officers responded to a two-car crash in front of Holliston Town Hall.
