Public Concerns Raised With Nunes Casino Plan

Rep. Dykema sent a letter to the casino developer last week asking for details of his plan.

Although casino developer David Nunes submitted his plan to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission before the deadline, some residents and leaders don't know if he is taking the process seriously.

"The lack of dialogue, outreach and substantive information by you regarding your casino proposal is of great concern.  If your proposal is indeed serious, you must engage with the local communities," Dykema said in a letter addressed to Nunes last week.

But community members are still moving forward with their fight against the casino.

Casino Free Milford has invited town leaders who helped stop the Foxborough casino proposal to speak in Holliston this week.

"Stephanie Crimmins started the No Foxboro Casino movement in Foxboro. She was instrumental in defeating the casino proposal in Foxboro. Ginny Coppola is a selectwoman for the town of Foxboro and she has experience as a State Representative. Both would like to present the information that they have learned as a result of hard work and perseverance," The event listing for When a Casino Wants to Come to Town says.

Public events against the casino are leading the conversations around the casino. As Dykema pointed out in her letter "Since you first proposed a casino development in 2009, you have not sponsored a single public meeting presenting the substantive details of your casino proposal."
