Boston’s Food Truck program, unlike in other cities, has designated permanent spots on city streets where food truck vendors can apply to operate, according to a press release from the mayor's office.
The food trucks will serve a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner foods from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (with a 9 p.m. closing time in some neighborhoods).
The new food trucks will be located in the Charlestown Navy Yard, Back Bay, Bay Village, South End, Fenway, Kenmore Square, Boston University, Dorchester and Boston Marine Industrial Park/South Boston Waterfront. For a map of the locations go to: www.cityofboston.gov/business/mobile/publiclocationmap.asp.
These locations are in addition to the food trucks that already operate on City Hall Plaza and the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

As part of the Mayor’s Healthy Food Initiative, food trucks applying to participate in the program must include at least one healthy menu option that does not include fried foods, trans- fats, or high fructose corn syrup.
The healthy menu option also has to include at least three of the following: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy, reduced fat or lean meats that are grilled, broiled or baked.
Additionally, participating trucks were asked to provide a statement on their commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, and to consider joining the Mayor’s “” Campaign.
The city is still recruiting new food truck vendors for additional sites. Vendors are encouraged to use the city’s new single application process for procuring food truck permits to operate as well as a new site license process for trucks interested in selling on the public way.
