A former Boston Police Department employee who allegedly shot and killed her uncle was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation at her arraignment Monday on a murder charge, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
Yvonne Lewis, 36, of Jamaica Plain, is accused of fatally shooting Clive Francis, 49, Saturday afternoon at a relative’s home in Boston’s Hyde Park section.

Lewis appeared in West Roxbury Municipal Court and Judge Kathleen Coffey ordered her to undergo a 20-day evaluation at a secure facility.
Prosecutors said Lewis shot Francis in the head, killing him. Police found Francis suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Following the incident on Wood Avenue, Lewis allegedly stole a vehicle owned by another relative. She was arrested five hours later at a hotel in Peabody, police said.
Officers tracked a signal from a phone in the car to the hotel. Lewis was not a registered guest at that hotel, but she was found there curled up in a hallway, prosecutors said.
Lewis is due back in court on Nov. 16.
