JP Cyclist Dies After Being Hit By Truck in CA

The 24-year-old was attempting to cross Interstate 80 early Saturday morning when he was hit by an oncoming truck.

A Jamaica Plain man died Saturday after being hit by a truck while trying to cross a California highway on his bicycle early Saturday morning.

Michael Arthur, 24, was found in the roadway of the eastbound side of Interstate 80 in Berkeley, Calif. at around 4:30 a.m. June 1, according to Boston.com and KTVU.com, the San Francisco Fox news affiliate.

California Highway Patrol officials said Arthur was trying to cross the lanes toward the center divider, according to KTVU.

The truck driver was a 41-year-old man from Mariposa County, according to KTVU. He was not injured.
