Morton Street Paving, Improvements to Begin

Parking along the 2.1 mile stretch of road between Shea Circle in Forest Hills and Gallivan Boulevard will be suspended during the work.

Paving and overall restoration will begin along the stretch of Route 203 that connects Forest Hills to Dorchester July 14.

Crews from the state department of transportation will begin the work in stages, largely to take place during overnight hours. Parking will be banned on the stretch during work, according to MassDOT. Below is the work schedule, according to a MassDOT press statement:

For milling: starting Sunday night July 14, through Friday July 19, crews will mill Morton Street between West Main Street and Shea Circle/Forest Hills Rotary between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night.  One travel lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

On Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, crews will mill Morton Street between Gallivan Boulevard and West Main Street.  Work is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and continue to 7 a.m. the following morning. 

Castings will be raised beginning Monday, July 22, to Friday, July 26, between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.  One travel lane in each direction will remain open during this period.

For paving: starting Sunday, July 28, through Friday, Aug. 2, crews will pave Morton Street between West Main Street and Shea Circle/Forest Hills Rotary between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

On Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3, crews will pave between Gallivan Boulevard and West Main Street between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

This schedule is subject to change should MassDOT be able to accelerate the work required.
