Blue Sox Season Opener Set for Tonight

Intercity League's Lexington franchise eyes fourth straight championship

The Intercity League, made up of nine amateur baseball teams in the area, got its 2010 season off to a start on June 1, and its Lexington franchise sees action tonight against the Medford Americans.

The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Lexington High School.

The Lexington Blue Sox have won the Intercity League championships seven times, including in each of the past three summers. The Blue Sox aim to capture a fourth straight title this season under manager Rick DeAngelis.

The team is made up of current college players and former college and professional players. Its season runs through Aug. 2, when it plays its regular season finale against the Reading Bulldogs.

Other Intercity League teams the Blue Sox will face include the Arlington Trojans, Wakefield Merchants, Testa Corp. Bombers, Watertown Reds, Mooney Dental Tanners and Andre Chiefs.
