Discovery Day Hits Lexington Center Tomorrow
Street fair, sidewalk sale, entertainment planned
Tomorrow's 31st annual Discovery Day offers a fun and festive kickoff to summer, complete with a street fair, food, live music, entertainment and more.
The festivities, sponsored by the Lexington Retailers Association, start at 10 a.m., at the municipal parking lot in town center, between Muzzey and Waltham streets. A street fair and sidewalk sale will be ongoing until 3 p.m. with more than 60 businesses and organizations participating.
Entertainment early in the day includes performances by Dance Inn students, at the bandstand, followed by Ben Rudnick and Friends playing at 10:45 a.m. The Mariachi Mexico Lindo will be roaming from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Also scheduled to perform are the Lexington High School jazz combo and improvisational ensembles, and a free after-hours concert will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m., with local cover band, The Nowheremen, playing songs by The Beatles at Depot Square.
The Lion's Club is holding free screenings for vision and hearing loss, eye disease and hypertension at its Eye Mobile, while the Lexington fire and police departments will be offering safety tips.

The food selection includes pizza, pasta dishes, grilled sausages, Tandoor barbecue, Japanese and Indian cuisine, frozen drinks, slushes and ice cream.
Kids' activities and entertainment will also be provided, and drawings for prizes from local merchants will be held throughout the day.
Another highlight is the Lexington Historical Society's second annual Relinquished Treasures Sale, at the Depot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with housewares, vintage clothing and jewelry for sale.
Free parking is available at all meters in Lexington center, and in the Meriam Street lot. Lexpress will also be operating special Saturday hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The rain date is Saturday, June 5.
