LHS PTSA Parent Forum: Pharmaceutical Drug Awareness

Frank Lombardo, Special Agent for the FDA/Office of Criminal Investigations, will be speaking about prescription and non-prescription/over-the-counter drug use in this country. He will provide an overview of the different prescription drugs that are commonly used and will discuss the laws regarding their distribution. Information on what parents can do to protect their teens from prescription drug abuse will be available.

Nearly one in five (over 4.5 million) teens has tried prescription medications (pain relievers such as Vicodin and Oxycontin; stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall) to get high, and 2 in 5 teens (40 percent, or 9.4 million) believe there's "nothing wrong" with using Rx medicines without a prescription "once in a while," according to The Partnership for a Drug Free America tracking survey.

Come join us for an important discussion on the prevention of teen prescription drug use, to be held in room 147, library media room.
