Fire incidents

On Tuesday, July 20, firefighters went to a Hancock Avenue house at 11:33 a.m. after a report of an odor of burning in the home. No fire was found. A slight odor was detected in the basement. A check for carbon monoxide gas was negative, and the problem was traced to a seized motor on an air conditioning system.

Thursday, July 22, a wire burning in a tree was reported on Balfour Street at Cedar Street at 6:56 p.m. The cover over a wire burnt, and a secondary wire was down. Nstar was notified and responded.

Friday, July 23, excessive smoke from a chimney was reported on Russell Road. A problem with an oil burner was found, and firefighters noticed moderate smoke coming from the chimney on arrival. The burner was shut down and the resident was advised.

Sunday, July 25, rescuers responded to a medical call at Clarke Middle School at noon. A soccer player had injured, and possibly broken, a leg. The player was taken to Lahey Clinic by ambulance.
