Fire incidents: 

On Monday, July 5 at 2:03 p.m., a power line broke free of a utility pole and fell across several cars on Westwood Road. The residents of a Westwood Road house were also told to stay inside until Nstar crews de-energized the power line.

A water main break on Mass Avenue at Estabrook Road was reportedon Saturday, July 3 around 9:46 p.m. One Mass Avenue resident reported one foot of water in their basement. Firefighters checked a number of homes on Mass Avenue for water. The following day, firefighters helped a Battle Green Road resident whose in-ground pool was full of mud and silt as a result of the water main break. Firefighters used a large trash pump to remove the majority of the water.

On Friday, July 2, an odor of gas was smelled indoors at a home on Grapevine Avenue. Firefighters noted a slight odor in the basement, from an unknown source, and checked the floors with a gas meter. All gas appliances were also checked, and no leaks were found. The gas company was notified and reported all areas and appliances checked and no leaks were found.

On June 29, firefighters assisted an elderly driver on Locust Avenue whose car had two flat tires. The driver was taken to a safe area and assisted with calling AAA. The vehicle was towed.
