
The Lexington High School baseball and softball teams are heading for tournament play this weekend, as the first rounds of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) playoffs begin.
The baseball team enters the North Division 1 playoffs with an 18-2 regular-season record and as the top-seeded team. After getting a bye in the preliminary round, Lexington will take on the winner of today's prelim game between Malden (ranked 16th) and Lowell (ranked 17th).
Lexington will host Malden or Lowell Saturday at 3 p.m., with the winner moving on to face Newton South or Everett in the quarterfinals.

The softball team enters the playoffs with 12-8 record, and as the 12th-seeded team is pitted against fifth-seeded Boston Latin (17-3) in the first round of the playoffs.
The game will be held at Boston Latin Saturday at 5 p.m., with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals against either fourth-seeded Newton North or 13th-seeded North Andover.
