A Lowell man was arrested June 21 and faces multiple charges after police say he broke into a Locust Avenue home around 9:45 p.m. on June 20, before being scared off by the resident in a neighboring house who confronted him.
Police arrested James F. Porter, 62, of 657 Merrimack St., on June 21 in Lowell, charging him with breaking and entering in the night, malicious destruction of property over $250 and possession of burglary tools.
Police say Porter fled Locust Avenue on foot, leaving his car behind. Lexington police were assisted by Bedford police and a Billerica K-9 unit, but did not find the Porter during their search, and identified him through his car license plate information.
