Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration is Tonight

It wouldn't be a proper Independence Day celebration in Lexington, some would say, without a celebration of July 4 harkening back to the days of our forefathers.

Join the Lexington Historical Society today at 7 p.m. for an "Old-Fashioned 4^th of July" at the as it returns to 1776 to celebrate the holiday with readings conducted by costumed residents.

The Lexington Declaration, by Levi Mead, will be read by Sam Doran; the Declaration of Independence, by Rev. Jonas Clarke, will be read by Rev. Dr. Peter Meek; and the British Response, by Major John Pitcairn, will be read by Paul O'Shaughnessy.

A special performance by the Lexington Historical Society Colonial Singers is also scheduled, and an ice cream social will be held, featuring Rancatore's ice cream available for $2 a cup.
