Police: Neighbor Thwarts Burglary Attempt On Locust Avenue
Attempted home break may be related to previous burglaries in the area.
An alleged burglary attempt Sunday night on Locust Avenue was thwarted when a neighbor alerted police, then confronted and scared off the would-be intruder, police said.
At 9:58 p.m., police got a 911 call from a Locust Avenue resident who said a man was breaking into a neighbor's house, said Lexington Police Lt. Manny Ferro. The neighbor then confronted the man, who ran away.
assisted by Bedford police and a Billerica K-9 unit, searched the area, but did not find the alleged intruder. However, police believe they know the man's identity and are close to making an arrest.

"We feel confident that we have an identity on that person," Ferro said. "We're going to be working on that aggressively, and we believe we'll be closing the case soon."
Police also believe the attempted break-in could be related to burglaries that have occurred since February at other homes in the area, Ferro said.

"We believe there are a lot of similarities between this and other breaks in town happening in a similar way," he said. "We'll be working to link those breaks to this person."
