Summer Fun Fest Monday Marks Event's Second Year

Community event brings games, music and activities to the Center Recreation Complex.

Games, activities, music and an open swim are all a part of Lexington Summer Fun Fest 2010, set for Monday, Aug. 2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The second annual event is being held by the town's recreation, human services and police departments, at the and is free. Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic, and can swim at no cost from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The Police Department will have an identification and fingerprinting station set up, free of charge.

Children under age 12 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and the fun fest is not intended as a drop-off event for children. Food will not be offered for sale.

About 800 people attended last year's fun fest, said Charlotte Rodgers, Human Services director.

"It's a fun, inter-generational, family-friendly, free event," she said. "It's a nice event to build community."

A rain date is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 4.
