Week in Review, June 28 - July 3

New fiscal year begins; Lions Club carnival kicks off.

Lexington Patch started the week off bringing you a story about who was honored by the state and the town for her decades-long work helping preserve historic homes.

Also on Tuesday, the Board of Selectmen met with town staff members to discuss its goals for the upcoming fiscal year and evaluate how it did accomplishing its goals for fiscal 2010.

Also at the Board of Selectmen's meeting, members announced that longtime Lexington resident S. Lawrence "Larry" Whipple had died Tuesday morning and flags would fly at half staff for him on Thursday. Whipple passionate about town history, and selectmen approved a resolution created in Whipple's honor.

This week was the first week of Lexington Patch's new " and we sat down with Lexx restaurant chef Adam White, owner Don Rosenberg and managing partner Chris Bateman to hear about Lexx's summer menu.

The newly-formed Sustainable Lexington Committee will begin its work after being created June 21 at the Board of Selectmen's meeting. The group will address environment, resource and energy challenges.

Thursday, July 1 was the start of a new fiscal year, which comes with changes in the state's Open Meeting Law. Lexington has mapped out how to comply with the law, including by providing a binder of meeting posts available 24 hours a day.

Thursday night, the Lexington Lions Club's 2010 Fourth of July Carnival got underway, and Lexington Patch got a look at all the fun in this video.

Friday, we heard about given by Jim Wilson. The tour provided insights into the farm's fields and greenhouse operations.
