Plans Coming Together For Town's 300th Anniversary Celebration

A committee of Lynnfield residents has been working to plan various events that will mark the 300th anniversary of the town in 2014.

In a recent update to local media, Lynnfield Tricentennial Committee Chairman Bob MacKendrick reported that the Town Day celebration on June 21 will include a parade and fair, and that various town organizations, including Rotary, the school district, and the recreation department, are also working on their own plans.

There is also still time for other local organizations to get involved, as noted in the committee’s recent announcement:

“Groups in Lynnfield that wish to produce official activities, and use the committee-approved logo on their promotional material are asked to submit their plans to the committee not later than November 1, 2013,” said the announcement.

“Individuals with questions and seeking a reporting form to submit their concept with a budget, should be in touch with chairman Bob Mackendrick at 781-334-6765, or by email chiefbob10@hotmail.com. Lists of activities will be published on the Tricentennial web page on or around December 1, 2013 and will appear in promotional brochures and email blasts in the months ahead.”

Lynnfield constructed its own Meeting House in 1714 and was formally declared a town in 1814.
