Mansfield Crossing Announces 2016 Halloween Spooktacular

The Oct. 22 event will include L.L.Bean's Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival and more than 2,000 jack-o-lanterns carved by high school students.

Mansfield Crossing is excited to announce itsHalloween Spooktacular will take place next Saturday, October 22, 2016 from Noon to 9:00pm. Halloween Spooktacular is free and open to the public; it will feature over 2,000 jack-o’-lanterns carved by local high school students and dozens of festive activities for both kids and adults, including a Halloween Hunt, horse drawn wagon rides, and themed costume contests. Participants also have the opportunity to support children with life-threatening illnesses through L.L.Bean’s Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival and to get active with the Bright Night 5K Run.

“This Halloween celebration truly has it all, and we’re thrilled to offer it to families free of charge,” says Ellyne Fleshner, Director of Regional Marketing for WS Development, which owns and operates Mansfield Crossing. “Our great community of stores and restaurants really look really forward to it, knowing it provides a fun-filled, safe environment and supports the highly worthy mission behind L.L.Bean’s non-profit, Camp Sunshine.”

Halloween Spooktacular’s Schedule of Events & Activities is as follows:

Halloween Activities & Contests: Noon – 2 p.m.

  • Halloween Hunt – guests will be provided with an official Scavenger Hunt Map with clues leading them to retailers such as Yankee Candle, GameStop, b.good, LOFT, Michaels, L.L.Bean, NRG Lab, Qdoba Mexican Eats and Così.
  • Guess the Pumpkin’s Weight Contest
  • Horse Drawn Wagon Rides
  • A prize wheel with the opportunity to win a $100 gift card to Mansfield Crossing
  • Così’s Patio Prize Center featuring refreshments
  • WVTQ-FM Hot 96.9 live broadcast

L.L.Bean’s Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival at Halloween Spooktacular: 3 – 9 p.m.

Held in front of the L.L.Bean store at Mansfield Crossing, L.LBean will host its Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival during Halloween Spooktacular. All are invited to sponsor a pumpkin for the event with proceeds benefiting Camp Sunshine, an award winning, free-of-charge retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families on the shores of Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine. Highlights of L.L.Bean’s Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival at Halloween Spooktacular include:

  • Over 2,000 jack-o’-lanterns carved by local high school students on display
  • Pumpkin Playland Children’s Games from 3-6 p.m.
  • Pumpkin Carving, open to the public from 3-6 p.m.
  • Cauldron Café: Tasty Pumpkin Treats from 3-9 p.m.
  • Costume Parade at 4 p.m.
  • Jack-o’-lantern Lighting at 6 p.m.

L.L.Bean Bright Night 5K at Halloween Spooktacular: 5 p.m.

Runners can run off their candy high with L.L.Bean Bright Night 5K run. The fun and flat course is beautifully illuminated by 1,000 glowing jack-o’-lanterns. The course begins and ends at L.L.Bean at Mansfield Crossing, taking runners around Woodside Pond, and down School Street, Plymouth Street, and Forbes Boulevard.
