East Street Man Threw TV Out Window, Armed Himself With Glass: PD

A MetroLEC team was called to the scene to help talk the man into surrendering.

MANSFIELD, MA — Mansfield Police and MetroLEC officers were at the scene of an incident on East Street between the intersection of South Main and North Main streets and Branch Street Thursday night.

At 6:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a man who threw a television out the window of his East Street home before breaking windows. He then armed himself with a shard of glass and began nailing his doors and windows shut, according to a press release from Mansfield Police Chief Ronald Sellon.

MetroLEC officers were able to talk the man into surrendering and he was treated for self-inflicted injuries and taken to an area hospital.

The man, whose name has not been released, is expected to face charges in Attleboro District Court.

East Street was closed during the incident.
