Police ID Suspect In Mansfield Flag Theft

Police have identified the man who took some flags from the Mansfield Field of Honor.

MANSFIELD, MA — Police have identified the person who took some flags from the Mansfield Field of Honor.

Police Chief Ron Sellon confirmed on Twitter Thursday night that the flags have been located and the person responsible has mental health and substance abuse issues.

"We now shift from pure punitive resolutions to those also looking to help him," Sellon tweeted.

Police have not filed charges against the suspect.

The Field of Honor is a display of hundreds of American Flags in honor of whose have served in the military. Money raised from the event goes towards scholarships and charities.

The flags were reported missing over the weekend.
