Garrett, a former youth soccer coach and aircraft industry executive, died in 2021 after a battle with dementia.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead high school seniors are encouraged to apply for the Charles J. Garrett, Jr. Memorial Scholarship — named after the town resident and long-time youth soccer coach and aircraft industry executive who died in 2021 after a battle with dementia.
The $2,000 scholarship is available to one Marblehead High senior or Marblehead student graduating from a high school outside of the town this spring.
"No doubt he would be humbled yet pleased by this named award benefitting a Marblehead graduating senior with their educational pursuits," said a GoFundMe page previously set up to raise scholarship funds. "Chuck's life exemplified hard work balanced with community, friends and family.
