Illegally Parked Car Prompts Road Rage

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department log:

Saturday, Aug. 30

The past theft of a GPS from a vehicle was reported at 7:46 a.m. at a Crestwood Road address. It has been missing since at least last Friday.

A Farrell Court resident reported a problem with a neighbor at 8:30 a.m. The woman said a man upstairs makes noises all day, including loud bumping and scraping. The police told her they can not tell the man he can not move around in his apartment during the day and she should report it to the Housing Authority.

An open door was found after an alarm at a Beverly Avenue address at 9:19 a.m. Officers cleared and shut the door behind them.

A tackle box was found at Redds Pond on Pond Street at 9:21 a.m. The person who found it said it had been there for a few days and they will hold on to it and take it back to the pond to see if it belongs to anyone there.

An alarm went off at a Leo Road address at 9:34 a.m. and the alarm company said a man there was not allowed to be there, according to the homeowner.

Seven tickets were issued to vehicles that were illegally parked at the Farmers Market on Pleasant Street.

A camper with Florida license plates parked on Washington Square at 10:34 a.m. was marked for two-hour parking. The camper was moved before the two hours expired.

A scam call was received by a Glendale Road resident at 10:40 a.m. from someone saying they were from the Internal Revenue Service and were investigating back taxes from 2012.

A caller reported to police at 11:15 a.m. that the rail trail was blocked near Ames Road. The caller said that the Light Department had the trail blocked with no detour in place. There were people who were getting lost and confused and one woman tripped and fell, doing a “faceplant.”

A man was having a reaction to a bee sting at 11:24 a.m. at his Tedesco Street home, but it turned out he was in his backyard, which is in Salem on Linden Street. EMS from Salem was on scene.

A Maverick Street resident reported three phone calls in a row at 11:28 a.m. from a man who said he was an enforcement officer with the treasury. The caller was told it was a scam.

A lost wallet was reported on Smith Street at 11:49 a.m. It happened the night before.

A caller reported at 12:15 that they lost an ID at Fort Sewall on Thursday.

A neighbor was racing up and down Garden Road with no helmet doing wheelies on a moped at 12:40 p.m. A child was also doing the same thing. Police spoke to everyone involved.

A lost iPhone was reported on Lee Street at 1:38 p.m. The person said they were not really sure where the phone was lost and they will go home and use the “Find My iPhone” app.

A lost credit card was reported on Maverick Street at 2:02 p.m. The person last had it the night before at Bertini’s and then had it at the White Hen, but did not use it there. The card has already been cancelled.

Keys were found left in the door of a Jeep at a Washington Street address at 2:45 p.m. The car was in the driveway but nobody answered the door so the officer brought the keys to the station. The owner came in for the keys the next day.

A complaint was received at 2:53 p.m. about a red Chevrolet pickup truck parked on Lee Street for three days and has not been moved. Police found that it was legally parked in an unrestricted zone. An officer spoke to the truck’s owner, who said it will be moved.

A Nanepashemet Street resident reported at 6:31 p.m. that their BMW was just egged, along with other vehicles in the neighborhood.

A resident needed help calling the Allentown, Penn. police at 7:10 p.m. because a friend was making suicidal statements on Facebook. They were given the phone number.

A Toyota Camry was parked near Franklin and Front streets in a way that is preventing the bus from making the turn at 7:13 p.m. The traffic in the area then backed up and led to people getting out of their vehicles and yelling at each other. The area of the landing was checked and the owner could not be located so the car was towed.

A large group of people were reportedly in the street on Anderson Street, possibly from the Alcoholic Anonymous meeting, at 7:53 p.m. The caller said she asked them to get out of the road because she almost them and they gave her “attitude.”

A “gang of kids” being loud, riding bicycles and skateboards was reported in the parking lot of Shubie’s on Atlantic Avenue at 8:18 p.m. An officer found it was a group of kids eating ice cream.

A loud party was reported behind a Middle Street at 9:40 p.m. The music was shut down and everyone went inside.

A minor car crash occurred at Washington and Middle streets at 9:45 p.m. The drivers needed help exchanging paperwork.

A female heard noises in her Mill Pond home at 9:50 p.m. and requested a property check. The entire home was searched and everything was OK.

Kids on bicycles took off from School Street at 10:04 p.m. Police caught up with them at Five Corners and three tickets were issued and the three people walked back to Lynn.

Possible trespassing was reported at a Treat Road address at 10:07 p.m. A man reported he has a no trespass order against his mother, who he just saw walk into the house.

A “big fight” was reported outside Maddies on State Street at 11:47 p.m. Police cleared out a group of people and if there was a fight it was over before police arrived.

Sunday, Aug. 31

A group of kids were reportedly sitting in the street in camp chairs with tables set up near Glendale Road and Humphrey Street at 12:35 a.m. A caller said they were drinking beer and he almost hit them, since they are in the road. Police found it was a street party from an earlier barbecue and was wrapping up.

A strange car was reported in the area of Green Street Court at 1:37 a.m. It was a silver Hyundai Elantra with a woman driving. The vehicle was stopped in front of Palmers and it was a certified nursing assistant with a patient in the area.

A woman reported at 6:02 a.m. that her husband is a merchant marine is home now and has been drinking a lot. He often drives drunk in his white Jeep and she is worried he may hurt someone.
