Man Faces Charges for Business Break-in

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department log:
Tuesday, Sept. 16
A Washington Street resident trying to call the Home Shopping Network accidentally called 911 at 7:47 a.m.

A man walking his kids to the Glover School reported at 8:22 a.m. that a silver vehicle drove fast down Clifton Avenue and turned right on to Humphrey Street without stopping.
A Prospect Street resident reported that he needed to take down some branches in order to renew his homeowner insurance but the trees belong to a neighbor. He told police at 9:18 a.m. that he anticipated a problem with his neighbor.

Swastika-like graffiti was located in the woods off Old Salem Road at 9:41 a.m. The DPW would take care of its clean-up.
Two suspicious men in a black Volkswagen Beetle were reported at Bubier Road at 9:56 a.m. The men were cleaners waiting for a homeowner to get home.
An employee at a Washington Street business reported at 10:05 a.m. that the business was entered and the cash register was torn apart. At 11:05 a.m., police arrested Nathan Alexander Nevin, 21, 19 Cheever Ave., and charged him with breaking and entering in the nighttime, malicious destruction of property over $250 and larceny from a building. Police then went with him to Lead Mills to see if they could recover any of the property.
A Franklin Street resident reported getting a scam phone call at 10:15 a.m. from someone with a very thick foreign accent claiming to be her grandson who needed money. She hung up and did not give the caller any money or personal information.
A woman who was in the process of separating from her husband asked police at 10:48 a.m. to frequently check her house on Columbia Road.
The gas line service to a Harbor Avenue address was hit at 11:25 p.m. National Grid and the Fire Department responded.
A phone line was reportedly hacked at a Lime Street address at 11:29 a.m. and there were fraudulent charges.
A car carrier truck pulled down wires on Bubier Road at 11:37 a.m. The Electric Light Department was notified and it turned out to be a Verizon line. Verizon was notified. The truck said something about antique cars on it and police checked Pleasant, Lafayette and Humphrey streets with no sign of the truck.
The Tree Department was notified about a branch of the side of the road at West Shore Road and Pequot Road.
A New Penn truck took down wires on Westminster Road at 12:25 p.m. The Electric Light Department was notified and the truck pulled down another wire as it left.
Somebody was locked out of their house on Franklin Street at 12:50 p.m.
A citizen was assisted on Garfield Street with a question about belongings in the house, which has not be moved out by a resident who is not on the lease. The caller said she is moving out next week and is worried she will have to move the stuff.
A female who lives on Farrell Court walked in to the station at 1:53 p.m. to report that there were several ATM withdrawals on her National Grand Bank account that she did not make. Officers went to the bank to follow-up. It turned out that the woman did withdraw the money from her account and she may have some memory issues.
A Naugus Avenue resident reported at 2:12 p.m. that a grey Ford Explorer was parked in the same spot for two weeks and was making the road narrow. Officers checked the area and did not find any parking problems.
A man wearing a Superman shirt and carrying a backpack was reportedly walking down Ocean Street swearing at people at 3:54 p.m. People checked the area and did not locate the man.
A false fire alarm came in from the Eveleth School on Brook Road at 4:31 p.m.
A false alarm from a Lifeline came from Stonybrook Road address 4:52 p.m. The woman was outside and she was fine.
Another false alarm came in from the Eveleth School on Brook Road at 5:02 p.m. Somebody was pulling the alarm from the street and firefighters requested police made extra patrols in the area.
A driver who was locked out of their black Chevrolet HHR on Atlantic Avenue got access with the help of the Fire Department without any damage at 5:10 p.m.
Police at 6:23 p.m. helped locate a green Mazda Tribute that was allegedly involved it a hit-and-run in Salem. A younger male was driving. Police spoke to the owner on Winthrop Avenue who said they would contact Salem police.
A Broughton Road resident reported at 6:46 a.m. that his shed was broken into overnight and the door was kicked in. A gas can was taken.
Two men were reportedly about to fight on Franklin Street at 7:17 p.m. and they fled on foot. Each man left in an opposite direction and were both in their late 20s or 30s. Police located one of the men, a 32-year-old man from Swampscott, at State and Washington streets and he was taken into protective custody. The other man requested a taxi and Salem Taxi was called.
A Trager Road resident called to say that a male had just knocked on her door at 8:13 p.m. and said he was there to change the locks but he took money without completing the services. The locksmith came from a 24-hour locksmith company with a mailing address in Tennessee. The locksmith met the homeowner who asked for a $30 fee upfront and then drove off in a newer model Toyota Camry. He was in his late teens or 20 wearing a “hoodie.” After police called the locksmith office, the locksmith called back and said he was willing to return to the police station to speak to an officer. He said when he got to the house he saw the family outside with the door open and she there was a $29 fee to show up. The said the resident gave him $30 and told him to keep the dollar and he left.
A contractor came in to the police station at 9:57 p.m. to speak to an officer about not getting paid for work he did on Bayview Road. He was told it was a civil issue.
A smoke detector was activated on Longview Drive at 10:12 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 17
An ambulance was called to a Lafayette Street address at 4:32 a.m. for a sick person.
