Deadline Extended for Marblehead Festival of Arts Scholarships
Awards are given to graduating seniors who intend to pursue higher education in a branch of the arts. Each award is $3K. Read on for details

From Marblehead Festival of Arts: The Marblehead Festival of Arts plans to award three art scholarships, two to graduating seniors and one to a student in a grade from seventh to eleventh. The scholarship committee has extended the application deadlines until Friday, April 14th. The committee came to this decision after realizing certain information, such as the colleges the seniors may attend, would not be known to applicants much before the first week or two of April.
The Art Scholarship and the Warwick Foundation Scholarship are given to graduating seniors who intend to pursue higher education in some branch of the arts. Each award is $3,000. Factors considered for selection of winners are the same: financial need; general academics; art achievements; arts-related and other activities; honors and citations received; and intended vocation. The one difference is the Art Scholarship is open to all seniors living in or attending school in Marblehead. The Warwick is open only to those graduating from Marblehead High School.
The Bloom family, in memory of Milton Bloom, a lifelong supporter of the arts, sponsors the Bloom Scholarship, open to students from seventh to eleventh grade. Students applying must reside or attend school in Marblehead. The winner will receive $500 intended to help pay tuition for a program in the arts—that includes crafts, fine arts, performing arts and creative writing.

The committee choosing the winner bases its selection on artistic talent, motivation, and accomplishments. Applicants must demonstrate a passion for art, have at least two years experience excelling in their chosen areas, and be seeking to expand their artistic horizons. The money may be used for programs scheduled between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018. Students are encouraged to apply each year they are eligible.
