Marblehead Nearly Tops in North Shore Turnout
Marblehead voters came out in full force Tuesday, with nearly two-third of registered voters going to the polls.

Voter turnout across the North Shore was almost universally 50 percent or higher on Tuesday, with nearly two-thirds of Marblehead’s voters going to the polls.
Marblehead the second highest turnout on the North Shore, at 65 percent, according to Town Clerk Robin Michaud.
At the other end of the spectrum was Lynn and Salem, the only two communities below 50 percent. Turnout in Lynn was 41.8 percent, according to the results from the City Clerk’s office. Turnout was 49.5 percent, according to City Clerk Cheryl LaPointe.

Across the North Shore, the race that drew the most interest was the Sixth District race for Congress, where Marblehead native Seth Moulton, a Demopcrat, defeated Republican Richard Tisei and Independent Chris Stockwell of Marblehead.
There were also contested races for statewide offices including governor, attorney general, treasurer, plus regional races for Governor’s Council and Registrar of Probate.

Other local races, such as state representative, state Senator and district attorney, all lacked contested races.

Beverly: 57.2 percent
Danvers: 54 percent
Hamilton: 58.7 percent
Ipswich: 57.9 percent
Lynn: 41.8 percent
Marblehead: 65 percent
Middleton: 61.4 percent
Peabody: 54 percent
Salem: 49.5 percent
Swampscott: 67.2 percent
Wenham: 61.6 percent
