Marblehead's Flanagan Looking to Take the Boston Marathon
The Marblehead native and Olympic runner will be taking on the Boston Marathon for the first time.

Shalene Flanagan has run marathons in other cities and won Olympic medals across the world. But, on Monday, she's going for something that she's wanted for years: first place at the Boston Marathon.
But Flanagan is just happy to be running in the 117th Boston Marathon as it is something she's dreamed about since a child, according to an article on Runners World.
“If I were to win, it would be my career,” says Flanagan, who has set U.S. records in the 5000 and 10,000. “To me it would define what I’ve done – everything else would be really nice. This would be the focal point. If you were to ask me what I really want in the remaining years of my career, it’s a win in Boston. "
