Native and Olympic Medalist Tries Her First Boston Marathon

While this may not be Marblehead native Shalane Flanagan's first marathon, her debut in the Boston Marathon is coming this April following a storied running career.

Runner and Marblehead native Shalane Flanagan won medals for her hometown high school, Marblehead HS, her college and her country. Now, for the first time, she's planning taking a shot at the Boston Marathon, according to an article on WBZ.com.

Flangan said that this is a childhood dream of hers.

“I’ve dreamed of this moment, toeing the line in Hopkinton since I was a little girl,” said Flanagan. “I watched the Boston Marathon religiously.”
