New Beach Playground Officially Opens Thursday

The latest project by the Marblehead Family Fund in a new playground at Devereux Beach.

The new playground at Devereux Beach is scheduled to officially open on Thursday.

The new playground was a project of the Marblehead Parks and Recreation Department and Marblehead Family Fund, an organization designed to improve Marblehead’s playgrounds, parks and open spaces.

The playground was opened for a time on Wednesday and “kids of all ages had fun,” according to an announcement by the Family Fund on Facebook.

The new playground replaced a rusty, corroded playground that had been on the edge of the beach for years. The new playground is in the same spot, with two play areas divided by age.

Before Devereux Beach, the Marblehead Family Fund also helped raise money for new play structures at Bud Orne Park, SeaSide Park, Hobbs Playground and Gerry Playground plus a telescope at Fort Sewell.
