Phone Scam, Distress Signal, and More From the Marblehead Police Log
Plus, broken traffic lights and ATMs.

Someone called a woman on Tuesday around 1 p.m. claiming to be her grandson as part of a phone scam. The caller was crying and said he had been in a car accident and lost his friend in the crash. The woman told police she was very unnerved by the call, but thought to ask the name of her grandson's attorney. The caller hung up. Originally the caller told the woman to wait three days before telling anyone about the accident, then said she could tell people that evening.
Police responded to a call of an American flag flying upside down on Brimblecomb Avenue. The caller said he though someone was protesting the election results, but thought officers should check anyway since it's a distress signal. No one was home when officers went to the house.
A caller informed police that an outside ATM was not working on Pleasant Street on Tuesday around 9 p.m.
