Police: No Charges in Bicyclist's Death

A Marblehead native was killed in early October in a bicycle crash in Chapel Hill, N.C.

No charges will be filed in a bicycle crash that killed a Marblehead native who was the longtime owner of Marblehead Sport Shop.

The Durham News reported that the driver that struck Pamela Lane, 57, will not be charged.

Lane was a Marblehead High School graduate who owned Marblehead Sport Shop for 17 years before working as a real estate agent in Marblehead.

Chapel Hill Police Lt. Josh Mecimore told the Durham News that the unnamed driver was leaving a gas station and had stopped in the driveway to let northbound traffic to pass and Lane tried to cross in front of the driver and was hit.

Lane was splitting time between Marblehead, where her parents live, and Chapel Hill, where her fiance Tim Flynn lives.

A scholarship fund has been set up in Lane’s memory and donations can be mailed to the Pam S. Lane Scholarship Fund, in care of The National Grand Bank, 91 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA 01945.
